How to dye polyester chiffon fabric
How to dye polyester chiffon fabric?
Polyester chiffon is a synthetic fabric that is difficult to dye because it does not absorb colors easily. However, polyester chiffon can be dyed with a special type of disperse dye, designed for use with synthetic fibers like polyester. The following are the dyeing steps of polyester chiffon fabric:
Choose a dispersed dye in your favorite color. Follow the dye manufacturer's directions on how much dye to use based on the weight of the fabric.
Fill a large pot with enough water to completely submerge your polyester chiffon fabric. Bring the water to a boil.
Dissolve the dispersed dye in a small amount of boiling water and stir until completely dissolved.
Add the dissolved dye to the pot of boiling water and stir well.
Wet the polyester chiffon fabric in warm water and add it to the dye jar. Agitate fabric continuously for 10-15 minutes to ensure even dye coverage.
Turn off the heat and let the fabric sit in the dye bath for 1-2 hours, stirring occasionally.
After the allotted time, remove the cloth from the pot and rinse with cold water until the water runs clear.
The setting temperature of chiffon fabric generally does not change much, but the sublimation fastness of scarlet dye is not good. After finishing, the machine will leave dye, so you can't make light color immediately, you can only make black or use a waste cloth to machine several times. To do light color. Attention should be paid to the thickness of the middle and side of the cloth, the temperature should be well controlled, not too high, the speed of the machine should be adjusted slowly, and the cloth should be drawn twice. Divide it into two times to reduce the difference in the middle and edge thickness. For the first time, the door width is about 6-8 inches less than the finished product, and the weight is about 100g. The temperature for the second time is 5-10 degrees lower than the first time, and the door width and weight are as required.
Note: Always wear gloves and follow safety instructions when working with dye. Also, keep in mind that polyester chiffon may not absorb dyes as well as natural fibers like cotton or silk, so colors may be lighter or more muted than expected.
